Do you have a car? Cars are pretty soundproof and you can park somewhere private and record on a phone or something. That's what I do because I have roommates who like to watch TV at max volume.
You can also pin some blankets on your walls for some amateur soundproofing, it's cheaper than foam as long as you're not using something thin like bedsheets.
